"Design Detroit" was a student assignment at Lawrence Tech, challenging students to conceptualize a brand for an underutilized downtown Detroit building transformed into an exhibition space for artists. The envisioned brand, "Design Detroit," sought to encapsulate the city's spirit and the creative vitality of the showcased artists. The core concept involved a dynamic visual representation: two merging D's creating a space between them. This symbolized the act of creation and the limitless potential for artistic expression. The merging D's were seamlessly integrated into business cards, letterheads, and envelopes, ensuring a consistent brand identity across various touchpoints. The website design harmonized with the overall brand identity, featuring a modern and clean layout enriched with interactive elements to spotlight artists and upcoming exhibitions. Renders envisioned the building's transformation, prominently displaying the Design Detroit logo. This not only served as a landmark but also invited people to explore the artistic expressions within.
